apparentparadoxWell, it's finally time to announce that Mark & I will be moving to Ashland, OR. A while back, we found a house that we like in a good location. The house inspection happened this week, and nothing major was found, so it looks like the deal will go through. [knock wood]
It will be strange to leave the Bay Area after more than 25 years, but we're both looking forward to exploring a new place, having actual seasons, and being able to walk to many things. It will be a bit tough to maintain my square dancing, so we'll have to see how that plays out.
Ashland does have high speed internet readily available, so it shouldn't affect my online life at all.
One thing that I'm enjoying right now is the whole "getting rid of stuff" as we prepare to move. I spent most of yesterday trying to get an old Mac PowerBook 100 to boot so I could make sure that we've got all the data off it that we care about (yes, I should have done this years ago, but it was easier just to leave the machine stuck over in a corner, ignored).
I'm also going through all my books, getting rid of ones that I'm never going to read again. Anyone local to the Bay Area who would like to grab a book (or 10) before I donate them to the library, let me know.
