Tongue Twisters
Jun. 25th, 2006 08:00 pmI've been finding myself tripping over words or just messing up my speech lately. Or, maybe it's been going on for a long time, and I'm just noticing it. It feels like my brain is running faster than I can get the words out, so things don't come out smoothly. I've had this kind of problem when writing something -- brain moving faster than the hand -- but it seems that it's now affecting my speech (which also makes me a bit more self-conscious). It's like some governor on my brain is missing or some connection between my brain & mouth/hand has broken.
I'm wondering whether this is something that has always been there to some degree, but I've not been aware of it, or if it is something that is changing. Maybe it's an effect of old age creeping in where my physical processes aren't able to keep up with the mental processes. Maybe I need to find some way to slow my brain down. Or maybe I spend too much time on a computer where I can revise things instantaneously, and am trying to do that when talking as well.
Whatever, it feels weird.
