A couple of incidents I've heard of:

Person1 (not his/her real name) is under the age of 18, living at home, and blogged about doing something that his/her parents had forbidden. Person1 was then upset when parents read about it in the blog & initiated punishment.

Person2 (not his/her real name) blogged about being depressed -- but never told his/her spouse about this. Spouse was surprised when people came up and asked what was wrong with Person2, and spouse was in the very awkward position of knowing nothing about it.

I just don't understand this. Do these people (and others, presumably) really see such a separation between their online lives and their "real" lives? Do they think of themselves as two different people with no connection? Or, are these kind of postings really a way for them to disclose information that they don't feel comfortable talking about face to face?
